Secretary of State addresses Bond Annual Conference
24 October 2012
The Rt Hon. Justine Greening MP, Secretary of State for International Development, chose the Bond Annual Conference to deliver her first speech to the UK development sector. One of the key themes of her speech was women's rights: she said that "The UK Government is putting girls and women at the heart of international development".
Her presence enhanced an already impressive line-up of influential speakers and panellists who discussed and debated with delegates some of the most critical issues and challenges facing our sector.
Charles Kazibwe, from Transform Africa, and Jessica Woodroffe, from Gender and Development Network, were elected to the Bond board by members. They replace Nik Kafka and Paul Valentin, who had come to the end of their terms.
Over 250 people attended the event: you can read about the day, listen to Justine Greening's speech and see photos on our Annual Conference page.
