Women’s rights: time to take stock

8 March 2012

International Women’s Day, 8 March, provides an important opportunity to recognise the political, economic and social achievements of women.  Yet, while arguably women’s rights have been vastly improved since the first International Women’s Day in 1911, gender equality for many women and girls is still a long way off and significantly little progress has been made on the Millennium Development Goal to promote gender equality and empower women.

WOMANKIND, Oxfam, ActionAid, DFID, The Guardian, The Independent and Oxfam blogger Duncan Green are just a few of those giving opinion and sharing perspectives on these issues.
