Over 1,600 people are so far reported to have died in floods in Pakistan. The number of casualties is likely to rise.

Around 4 million people have been affected by the disaster according to the UN. Bond members working in Pakistan have warned that water-borne contamination and disease may now become a major problem.

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has launched a Pakistan Floods Appeal and special broadcasts are being run on national television in the UK. The DEC has details on how individual NGOs are responding.

Bond members working on disaster relief include: ActionAid, CAFOD, Care International UK, Christian Aid, Concern Worldwide, Islamic Relief, Muslim Aid, Merlin, Oxfam, Save the Children, Tearfund and World Vision.
