New Consultation Opportunities
5 August 2010
The UK Parliament's International Development Committee is conducting an inquiry into DFID's Annual Report and accounts for 2010. This includes discussing the effectiveness of DFID itself.
DFID has also just launched a consultation to improve UK government policy on reproductive, maternal and newborn health in the developing world. NGOs and other stakeholders are invited to comment. In addition, DFID is welcoming comments on its new consultation on malaria, a disease that half of the world's population is at risk of contracting.
The European Commission is carrying out a consultation on voluntary guidelines for non-profit organisations. The purpose of these is to raise awareness of the risks of being abused for terrorist financing and to encourage NGOs to review their internal rules.
Last but not least, DFID is consulting on the new Poverty Impact Fund, which aims to fund organisations fighting poverty, with a particular focus on delivering services to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
