Engaging parliamentarians
19 June 2010
Over 30 MPs attended a parliamentary reception jointly organised by Bond on 9 June 2010 in Westminster. New and returning parliamentarians talked with Bond members about international development and, especially, the Millennium Development Goals.
Guest speaker Deo Nyanzi, from Global Call to Action Against Poverty in Uganda, shared valuable insights into what the MDGs actually mean on the ground.
Stephen O'Brien, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for International Development, enthused about the important and useful role that Bond plays in coordinating and uniting NGOs.
He also discussed objectives of the new political leadership, including a new aid watchdog, getting value for money and achieving transparency.
