Why choose this course:

If you want your advocacy work to change government policy, you need to know how the UK decision-making process works and who the key political players are. This course will help you develop your knowledge and understanding of Westminster and Whitehall and find your way round the UK policy-making arena. It includes a visit to the UK Parliament and guest speakers sharing their experience.

What you will learn:

• The reality behind political decision-making processes, and the relationship between the key institutions
• The roles and responsibilities of key political players including ministers, MPs, select committee members, special advisors, researchers and civil servants

• Parliamentary tools and tactics
• Dealing with government departments
• Opportunities for lobbyists and campaigners to become involved in, and influence, the political process
