Head of Directorate

The Fairtrade Foundation is a passionate and ambitious global development organisation committed to tackling poverty and injustice through trade. We are best known as the independent, not-for-profit body behind the FAIRTRADE Mark, a product label assuring consumers that their purchase helps disadvantaged farmers and workers in developing countries secure a better deal.

The holder of this new post will have a key role in ensuring that organisational planning is co-ordinated to facilitate effective delivery of the Foundation’s strategic objectives. Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director (DED), the role will require close collaboration with Directors across the Foundation to ensure achievement of financial, quality and performance targets. The role holder will also have ownership of the Foundation’s strategic roadmap, ensuring that the delivery of major projects is on track; generate the annual schedule of business for the Foundation’s Board and Senior Management Team; and will champion excellence in project management throughout the Foundation by supporting the DED with best practice.

Applicants will need demonstrable experience of implementing processes and procedures across large, strategic business-critical programmes, preferably within a large, complex environment. Experience of recognised project management methodology and evaluation techniques is essential, as are line management experience and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience of discharging corporate governance duties, and experience of risk management methodologies, would be advantageous.
