There are a wide variety of UK donors interested in funding international development, from the UK government to small trusts and foundations.
The European Commission (EC)
The EC is one of the biggest donors to international development and funds a range of financial instruments that can be accessed by UK NGOs working in international development.
For individual support for organisations accessing and managing EC grants, BOND runs an EC Funding Advice Line.
BOND Groups
The BOND Secretariat coordinates three groups that look at funding issues.
The Funding Working Group looks at the major UK donors for international development, including DFID, Comic Relief and the Big Lottery Fund. It has a sub-group working on DFID grant-management issues.
The EC Funding Group deals with at all aspects of EC NGO co-financing budget lines and has close links to CONCORD's working group on Funding for Development and Relief (FDR), which co-ordinates lobbying and policy activity on EC funding.
The Voluntary Income Fundraising Group focuses on the challenges of raising income from individual giving, trusts and foundations and from the private sector.
BOND Training
BOND runs a variety of training courses to build skills and understanding in gaining access to funding opportunities and managing donor relationships under its Funding and Donor Relations programme.
