Updating the UK's strategy on tackling AIDS in the developing world

DFID's consultation on updating 'Taking Action', its strategy for tackling AIDS and HIV in the developing world, ended on 8 August 2007. BOND's working group on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights submitted a response. A copy of this response will be available shortly.

Consultation on Charities and Terrorism

The Home Office consultation, undertaken in partnership with the Treasury, on charities and terrorism ended on 2 August.

BOND submitted a joint response to the 'Revew of Safeguards to Protect the Charitable Sector (England and Wales) from Terrorist Abuse'. In total 47 member organisations signed up to the response.

Following the closure of the consultation period it is expected that once the Home Office and the Treasury have analysed the consultation responses they received they will make recommendations to the Charity Commission about how this work should be taken forward. BOND will continue to lobby and work with the Charity Commission to ensure that any changes made to current policies are both risk based and proportionate. DFID Governance and Transparency Fund Consultation

Back in 2006 DFID announced the creation of a new £100 million Governance and Transparency Fund so that media groups, civil society and others can play their part in improving governance, and helping poor people to hold their governments to account. A consultation on the Governance and Transparency Fund Consultation ran till 8 November 2006.
