Make poverty history

Legacy Resources

Picture of Mandela In February 2005, Nelson Mandela stood in Trafalgar Square and called on us to be "that great generation" - people determined to bring about an end to poverty and injustice. We accepted that challenge and created a groundswell of action that world leaders could not ignore. Our pressure, along with that of partners all over the world, helped ensure that politicians made new promises.

Brand and Logo Guidelines

All member organisations of the coalition were licensed to use the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY name and logo in 2005 under trademark licences with Comic Relief. These licences have now been extended for an indefinite period and BOND, in association with Comic Relief, is guardian of the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY name.

The following guidelines set out the parameters within which coalition member organisations can go on using the brand, including guidance around fundraising.

The Verdict on 2005

The policy advances of 2005 provide important levers for campaigning in the future, though they do not live up to the scale of the challenge set by campaigners. The following document sets out MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY's verdict on 2005. They are laid out at different resolutions, with and without pictures, so that you can pick the right one for your purposes. The fourth version is a large high resolution file that you could send to a printers to make an A5 booklet.
